Assistant Park Manager

Description

Assistant Managers report to the Park Manager. Under his/her direction, the Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting with daily operations and administration, supervising assigned staff and communicating with park visitors and the general public. This is a seasonal position and may require evening and weekend hours.

Duties
  • at the direction of the Park Manager, supervises staff, monitors scheduled work and maintenance tasks
  • assists maintenance workers with upkeep of buildings and grounds
  • assists with inspection and maintenance of park vehicles and equipment
  • checks daily reports from toll house, concessions, swim areas and boathouse for accuracy
  • opens and closes toll house, beach/pool areas, concessions and boathouse
  • provides troubleshooting for computer and/or cash register issues
  • performs duties of Park Manager in his absence
Requirements
  • at least 21 years of age
  • excellent communication skills, both in customer service and staff supervision
  • knowledge of park facility upkeep with knowledge of construction, plumbing, electrical and/or mechanical trades preferred
  • working knowledge of computer operation sufficient to use programs and software used by the Parks Department

Boathouse Attendant

Description

The Boathouse Attendant is responsible for assisting park visitors in renting boats for use on Coleman Lake. This is a part time seasonal position.

Duties
  • collects boat rental fees, issues receipts and completes daily report of revenue
  • inspects boats and advises Park Manager or maintenance staff of needed repairs
  • cleans boathouse facility and boats
Requirements
  • must be at least 16 years of age; if under 18 must obtain a work permit

Concessions

Description

Concession workers serve food and drinks to pool patrons during normal pool hours between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.

Life Guard

Description

Lifeguards protect swimmers at the pools and beach by enforcing rules, maintaining a safe and clean environment, performing rescues if necessary and interacting with swimmers and other guests. These are seasonal, part time positions. Lifeguards are needed between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.

  • Ensures safety of swimmers, including preventing accidents, minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations and providing rescue or first aid if required

Maintenance

Description

Maintenance positions are available at Hayswood Nature Reserve, South Harrison Park and Buffalo Trace Park. These positions are part-time seasonal positions, averaging 35 hours per week between early April and the end of October. Maintenance personnel report to the Park Manager.

  • perform routine maintenance and repair of structures and equipment
  • cleaning restrooms, cabins, grounds, including emptying trash containers throughout the parks
Requirements
  • physical ability to perform moderately strenuous job duties
  • preference given to applicants with past experience in plumbing, electrical work and mechanics
  • must communicate well with other park employees and park visitors
  • must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a criminal background check

Petting Zoo

Description

The Petting Zoo Attendant is responsible for caring for zoo animals, maintaining zoo area and ensuring safety for park patrons. This is a part time seasonal position.

Rhoads Pool Manager

Description

The Rhoads Pool manager oversees the operations of the pool and supervises pool staff, including scheduling work assignments. The Manager supervises pool maintenance, including cleaning the facility and machinery. The Manager takes water samples and sends in for analysis to ensure compliance with State Board of Health requirements, adjusting pool chemicals as necessary to maintain required levels. The Manager maintains payroll records for staff. This is a part time seasonal position which requires some evening and weekend hours.

Description

Toll House workers greet the general public and customers entering the park. They serve as public relations liaisons, representing Harrison County Parks to visitors and potential visitors. They check in campers, including making new reservations and collecting entry and camping fees. Toll house workers provide information about facilities, activities and rules at the park. These are part time, seasonal positions and include evening and weekend hours.
