If a shelter house is not reserved for the day, it is available on a first come, first serve basis.
In 1991, the task of naming the shelter houses was left to Harrison County. A contest was conducted for schoolchildren in our area which invited students to submit names for the shelters. Three names were selected and the winners received awards for a job well done.
Shelter prices range from $45-$65.

If a shelter has been reserved in advance there will be a sign posted outside the shelter indicating that it is reserved.
Many guests use the shelter houses for annual events like family reunions. If you wish to reserve the same shelter house for the next year you will be given priority if you call the Parks Administrative Offices at 812-738-8236 within 7 days after your event. You must then call the office again after January 1 to make payment which will confirm the reservation.
Any event held on Parks’ property for the purpose of sales or fundraising requires pre-approval by the Parks Board and must be submitted in advance for consideration at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Harrison County Parks Board.
